Individual Home stay Courses
Total Immersion in a Foreign Language
Courses designed for you
Your teacher will give you lessons which suit you personally, reflect your interests and meet your needs. As you are the only student, the lessons will go at your pace. This way of learning is extremely effective, as you will not meet other students who speak your language.Intensive learning process
Because you are living in your teacher's home and using the language constantly, the learning process continues all day - not just during lessons, but all the time: during meals, on trips and when enjoying activities. You are sure to make very rapid progress.Leisure activities
You can enjoy a wide variety of cultural and sporting activities during your stay. Interests such as theatre, music, tennis, golf and riding are taken into consideration when we choose your host teacher. We have a wide range of host teachers, allowing us to cater for youngsters, adults - including a wide range of professionals right up to the most senior positions - and the retired.
All our teachers have the necessary level of education and experience, are expert at giving individual tuition and offer a very high standard of accommodation. They are also chosen for their ability to make you feel welcome in their home.
Learning success is further guaranteed by our highly qualified academic managers, who provide in-house teacher training, equip each teacher with suitable course materials and give teachers the maximum academic support for each course.
Courses
- For all ages and levels.
- Arrival and departure any weekend throughout the year (Saturdays preferred). Lessons start on Monday
- Course fees are for one week's accommodation (7 nights) and all lessons (1 hour = 60 minutes' tuition).
- For our younger students, lessons can be replaced by activities and outings in the chosen language. Entrance and other fees, including for the teacher, then have to be added to the price of the home stay.
Young Children
We have children as young as 9 years old who are quite happy to leave home and study with a teacher, yet sometimes you can have a 17 year old who cries at first, because of homesickness. The suitability of a course for young children depends far more on the character of the child than it does on the age. Parents are usually reassured by the fact that all our teachers are qualified and, therefore, experienced in caring for children and supervising them. A family who merely lets rooms for money in no way feels the same duty of care as a qualified teacher who is a professional not only in imparting knowledge, but also caring for younger students.Course Costs

Teenagers
Many of our students are at the point of leaving school or are already attending university and, although at 18 they are technically adults, parents still like a watchful eye kept on them. Our teachers are the most suitable people to do this. They can, for example, warn students to avoid certain areas in big towns and can protect the younger students from forming friendships and associations with undesirable friends. This sort of protection even for young adults can only be given properly by true professionals such as our host teachers.Mature Students
There are no upper age limits and we have had students aged 80 years or more. The key for us is to find retired teachers who prefer to host the more mature student with whom they have more in common. Business and professional people often find our course most useful when visiting a foreign country - for business or for a professional conference, as they find that a couple of weeks spent learning the language of the country they are visiting repays itself 100-fold by impressing the foreign business partners or congress delegates with a working knowledge of what is often an obscure language.Fees and Tuition
Course fees vary by country and the number of hours of lessons per week as detailed in the table to the right. The fees include:- All registration costs
- Single room in a teacher's home
- Full board accommodation
- Individual lessons as chosen
- Personal course booklet
- Use of suitable course materials
- Diagnostic Test for English language courses (for this programme we'll have to fax you a detailed application form with your specific level and needs)
- Certificate of Attendance and Course Report (on request)
- Course fees do not include airport/port transfers, insurance or entrance to museums, sports centres, etc.
- These prices are per student per week and include lessons, accommodation and three meals per day. (one week = Sunday to Sunday).
- Students choosing to come with their own partner with the same level, can share the teacher. REDUCTION OF 20% FOR EACH STUDENT
- For students under 16: If students under 16 are not accompanied by their parents, it is mandatory to book the transfer to the family from the airport or train station.
- Activities and classes are the same price per hour, meaning that participants can freely personalize the number of hours of each in their itinerary. For example :
- 15 hours of lessons = 10 hrs lessons & 5 hrs activities for the same price
- 20 hours of lessons = 10 hrs lessons & 10 hrs activities for the same price
- 25 hours of lessons = 15 hrs lessons & 10 hrs activities for the same price
Activity, Excursion & Sports Program

Students taking our Standard Course will live the normal life of the teacher’s family and will benefit from at least one excursion per week chosen by the teacher but without extra charge. If students wish to choose specific activities, they should book a programme of activities. This programme may consist of excursions, sports or cultural activities with an adult member of the host family. Our charges are the same as the teaching rate, students can therefore substitute 1 hour of activities for each hour of lessons they wish provided that this is arranged at the time the stay is booked. In addition, the student must pay for all expenses including all entrance fees & bus or train tickets for both themselves and the person accompanying them. Similarly, in the case of sports such as tennis, golf or horse riding, students must pay for themselves and the family member accompanying them. The students are free to choose the activities that please them, but we must then reserve the right to choose the area where we know that such activities are available. We cannot always guarantee this service especially if it is a late booking or if the student places restrictions on the type of family selected (children of the same age, vegetarian, non smoker, centre of town).Language & Cultural programmes 2007
