French Summer Courses in Monaco
The Principality of Monaco lies in South-Western Europe sandwiched between France and the Mediterranean Sea some 4km from Italy. It is the second smallest country in the world after the Vatican City and is famous for its beautiful, rugged landscape and sunny Mediterranean climate -- there is almost no precipitation there. Monaco's capital city, Monte Carlo, famous as a tax haven for the super-rich and for the annual Formula-One race that takes place there, is one of the most luxurious resort towns in the world. The School
Since the creation of our partner school, almost 230 000 students from all over the world have attended its courses in French Language and Civilisation. Its cultural commitment and pedagogical experience attracts approximately 4 000 youths and 200 teachers each year. Its idyllic setting, a beautiful wooded and floral park nestling on the hillside overlooking the Mediterranean, along with its antic style amphitheatre imagined and decorated by Jean Cocteau and now used for cultural events, create a unique atmosphere. Set in a beautiful park overlooking the Mediterranean, the spectacular amphitheatre, three accommodation units, cafeteria, classrooms and reception area make the Centre a refreshing and stimulating place to live and work. The study areas includes 8 classrooms, the amphitheatre and outdoor facilities. Catering is self-service, offering balanced meals cooked in our kitchens. The cafeteria stays open in the evenings: students can meet up in a friendly, festive environment. The courses
There are 3 hours of lessons per day, and class sizes never exceed 15 students. There are several nationalities in each class, meaning that students rarely encounter other speakers of their language, which in turn facilitates the learning process. Teachers use a communicative approach and selected exercises from French manuals, privileging authentic multimedia documents . Pedagogical exploitation of these documents allows learners to develop both grammatical and communicational skills, materialised in different situations of communication. Our teachers majored in the teaching of French as a Foreign Language at the University of Nice. They are not only linguistically competent but are also language animators. Their role consists mainly of selecting and developing the most appropriate interactive group/class activities for learning the language (role playing, simulations, creativity exercises etc.). A European certificate of French studies assesses every participant's level of French at the end of the stay. Classes are designed to prepare students for the official DELF exams and students will receive a European Certificate of French Studies at the end of their coursework.Beyond Classes
Beyond simply being a place of studies, the school also offers an excellent environment from which to enjoy the summer months. Students are boarded in freshly renovated rooms of 3 to 5 beds, each with bathroom and toilet. Bedlinen is changed and laundry done every week. Blessed with a beautiful 3 hectare garden and an amphitheater overlooking the sea, the campus provides an idyllic and relaxing environment in which students can build friendships and appreciate life.Activities
The school offers a variety of activities designed to be both fun and enriching. Daily afternoon activities include:- Daily trips to the French Riviera
- Various supervised sporting activities, such as sailing on a catamaran, snorkeling, kayaking, tennis and swimming.
- Optional sport training with professional coaches in tennis and sailing.
